Temple in the Sea, Carapichaima

The story of the Temple in the Sea is absolute magic! In the 1930’s an indentured labourer named Sewdass Sadhu built a small temple to worship in. The owners of the land wanted him to remove it and sent him to prison for 14 days before they destroyed it. When Sewdass was freed, he decided to rebuild his temple in the sea and carried stones, sand and cement back and forth everyday on his bicycle. The temple was finally completed in 1952.
