Sawine Cake


  • 300g vermicelli (about 3 cups)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1½ cups water
  • 3 cups Dairy Dairy
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 cloves
  • 4 crushed cardamom pods
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup cherries, chopped
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • ¼ cup pistachios, chopped


In a pot over medium heat add butter and parch vermicelli until golden brown.

To the pot, add water, Dairy Dairy and spices. Allow it to simmer until reduced by half.

Once reduced, add the remaining ingredients and let it reduce again by ⅓.

Pour sawine mixture into a greased 8×8 dish and decorate the top. Let it to come to room temperature before placing it in the fridge for 1 hour to completely set.

Cut the set sawine cake and serve.
