From bougainvillea and bamboo to Brazilian peewah and Malaysian rambutan, most visitors to the La Vega Estate in Gran Couva know that they can always find an amazing variety local and international of flowers, fruits and plants. But do you know how much more there is to explore at this beautiful nature resort?
The 250 acre estate was originally opened as a plant nursery in the early 80s. The owner, Bertram Manhin, had a passion for plants and travelled the world looking for new and exciting specimens, which he nurtured at the estate and at his garden centre in San Fernando. To ensure that his precious treasures were able to survive the harsh dry season, Manhin established two reservoirs — Lousade Pond and Lake George — which are now great spots for picnics and barbecues.
The reserve offers a unique combination of tranquillity in the Bamboo Nursery, Garden of Meditation and Divine Mercy Shrine, and action packed adventure in the pools and playing field.
