Father’s Day Chocolate Cake

You know what they say about the way to Dad’s heart = his tummy! Forget the ties and the socks; this decadent chocolate cake is the perfect Father’s Day treat. Rich and moist, with a hint of coffee, Dad will definitely be excited for Father’s Day dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tablespoons Dairy Dairy Full Cream milk powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 cup warm coffee

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease and line an 8-inch cake pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, add all of the ingredients listed.
  • Whisk well to combine until the batter is smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 35-40  minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  • Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely before serving or frosting.

Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting
Ingredients

  • ½ cup cream cheese, room tempurature
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, room tempurature
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ – 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsps unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease and line an 8-inch cake pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, add all of the ingredients listed.
  • Whisk well to combine until the batter is smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 35-40  minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  • Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • In the meantime make the frosting by beating the cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.Gradually add the powdered sugar, starting with 1 ½ cups and adding more if needed, until the desired sweetness and consistency are achieved.
  • Add the cocoa powder and mix until fully incorporated and the frosting is smooth and fluffy.
  • Frost the cooled cake and enjoy!
